Pier at the Embarcadero de San Francisco

Today they touched another 400 kilometers to reach San Francisco, in our road trip coast to coast by United States. We walked them in the morning on a pleasant and interesting journey.

We ate in a curious restaurant, from a chain we had not visited yet, which is called Ono Hawaian BBQ. The food as usual, fast food, but acceptable.

TO San Francisco It can be accessed by three places: if you arrive from the east, as was our case, by Bay Bridge suspension bridge, which crosses the island of Yerba Buena; by road without a bridge if you access the south coast; and finally for the most famous Golden Gate suspension bridge If you come from the north.

The entrance to San Francisco has toll on the Bay Bridge (not the exit by this bridge, since it is assumed that the entrance toll already includes the exit) and toll at the exit of San Francisco by the Golden Gate (not the entrance for the same reason, we suppose).

Embarcadero Corner of San Francisco

Our first impression of San Francisco It was double: beautiful and cold. Apparently, in this beautiful city there is a microclimate whereby the temperature is several degrees lower than nearby populations, in addition to concentrating a lot of fog in specific areas, such as the Golden Gate.

We go to the hotel following the instructions of our GPSMaggie, and after some return of more than necessary, we arrive at it.

The hotel was located relatively central and was also managed by Hindus who, in this case, worked in slow motion. After 45 minutes queuing for checking at the reception, we take possession of our rooms.

Final stop of a San Francisco streetcar in California

The hotel was surprisingly cheap to be San Francisco, taking into account its central location and that had its own parking (paid separately at the reception).

Already at the hotel we began to notice a certain gay atmosphere, one of the characteristics of the city of San Francisco.

After informing us of how to move around the city, we took a tram (very old, like most) that took us to the dock in the bay, as the song says (The dock on the bay).

Walk us along the long promenade that runs along the bay, entering and leaving all places, markets, shops, and even the docks ahead of us.

At San Francisco Pier we saw boats, huge ocean liners, boats / buses that took people to nearby towns like Sausalito; we also saw the Bay Bridge From below, huge, very American. It was a very nice long walk.

Fisherman's Wharf entertainment area in San Francisco

We visited also the famous Pier 39 pier, in the Fisherman's Wharf entertainment area, where we finally decided to stay for dinner. It was a restaurant specializing in fish, Pier Market - Seefood Restaurant & Market, overlooking the harbor and the famous sea lions that concentrate on Pier 39.

We were pleasantly surprised by the way to solve the problem of queues, because there was a line to enter the restaurant, which should be a daily tonic. When requesting a reservation for a table, which is requested outside the premises, we were given a flat and square-shaped electronic device, about 10cm x 10cm, with a blinking blue light indicating that it was connected.

With this device we could continue our walk in the area until they began to turn on and off a multitude of blue lights, which meant that we already had the table ready. You were returning to the restaurant, returning the device and eating.

DON'T FORGET YOUR TRAVEL INSURANCE

Are you organizing your trip to the United States? Don't go without hire your travel insurance first, and here we explain why. If you hire him with us, you have a 5% discount.

We found it a great way to avoid having to queue, standing, like pasmarotes. Logically, people are supposed to be serious and do not run away with this device, which, on the other hand, should not be useful for anything else.

We had shrimp and fish for dinner, accompanied with beer and wine! All very correct. Great evening

We return to the hotel walking. A long walk, with its strenuous climbs up the steep streets of San Francisco, followed with their corresponding descents. We could continue to feel the sensations generated by this great city, origin of movements such as hippies, cosmopolitan, modern, open city, world center of the gay world and also a greatmelting pot of customs, races and languages, sharing a space quite harmoniously.

Upon arrival at the hotel we reserve a city tour in the next day Sightseeing Tour by double decker bus.
